Norwich reject Midfielders transfer request

Norwich City midfielder Wes Hoolahan has had is transfer request rejected by the club. The 31 year old midfielder, has had limited opportunities under Chris Hughton and wants to leave to play more first team Football.

 

Ex Norwich City manager Paul Lambert is fan of Hoolahan’s and could be keen to secure his services at Aston Villa. His current contract runs until 2015 and Norwich insist they do not want to sell Wes Hoolahan.

 

“City can confirm Irish international midfielder Wes Hoolahan has today submitted a transfer request which has been rejected.

“The board of Norwich City has stated clearly no senior players will be sold against the Club’s wishes and Hoolahan, 31, is contracted to the Club until June 2015.

“The club will make no further comment at this time.”

Hoolahan in response also released a statement on his future at Norwich City.

 

“Following a meeting with the club chief executive, I felt I had no option but to hand in transfer request, I have noted that request has been turned down – however I believe it is in the best interest of Norwich, for whom I have the greatest respect, and myself that I am allowed to move on and play my football elsewhere.”

 

 

With time still left in this transfer window, it will be interesting to see if Aston Villa or any other club make a move for the want away midfielder.
