Tanguy Ndombele returns to his former club Lyon on a six-month loan.

The Frenchman initially joined from Lyon back in 2019 for £63m but has struggled to make an impact at the North London club.

The Ligue 1 club has signed their former player on a six-month loan with an option to make the deal permanent for £54m.

The 25-year old midfielder struggled for consistency despite earning a starting role and never gaining the manager’s full support.

“Tanguy Ndombele has joined Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais on loan until the end of the season,” said Spurs in a statement.

“The central midfielder returns to the club from which he joined us in July 2019. He has made 91 appearances for us in all competitions to date, scoring 10 goals.”

The Frenchman is expected to reignite his career in France under new boss Peter Bosz.

Lyon manager Peter Bosz said: “We are building a team that can win things. If we look at Romain Faivre and Tanguy Ndombele, we can say that they are quality players.
