The striker looks set to commit his long-term future to the Gunners

Olivier Giroud is close to agreeing a contract extension at Arsenal, according to reports.

Talks are currently ongoing between the player and the club, with the Gunners eager to tie him down for the future.

The club want to ensure he’ll be playing his football at the Emirates Stadium for the next couple of years and the player himself is believed to want to commit to the club.

Happy at the club

He is believed to be very happy with the Gunners and wants to continue plying his trade at the club, so a deal could soon be in place and agreed by both parties soon.

His current contract only expires in a year and a half but, again, Arsenal want to ensure he will be at the club for even longer than that.

Giroud is on a good run of form at the moment, scoring in games against Bournemouth in the league and Preston in the FA Cup last week.

The 30-year old has made 19 appearances in total this season so far, banging in nine goals.
