Juventus star informs Premier League champions how much he wants a week

Chelsea have suffered a major setback in their pursuit of Paul Pogba after the Juventus star revealed his contract demands.

The Frenchman wants to become the club’s highest paid player of all time with a five-year contract worth an astonishing £318k-a-week, which would make him one of the highest paid footballers in the world today.

Pogba Race

If Chelsea did agree to Pogba‘s demands, they’d end up paying him a whopping £82.5million over the five years, as well as having to cough up the £72m asking-price for the transfer fee.

The Serie A champions have made it clear that they don’t want to sell the midfielder, but if Chelsea did launch a formal bid in excess of £70m, they may be tempted.

Juve have already lost Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal, but Pogba would be a real blow for The Old Lady, who started their title defence with a shock loss last weekend.

With just a few days left in the transfer window, it’s not yet understood whether Jose Mourinho will go ahead with his pursuit of Pogba, especially after hearing his latest contract demands, but The Special One has admitted he’s hopeful the club can bring in at least one new face.

Mourinho Expects Signing

Mourinho said: “Hopefully I can bring one player in. Hopefully.

“But we are not in trouble. We are not desperate. We are not panicking because the transfer window closes in a couple of days.

“If we get him, we get him. If not, we don’t. But for a perfect shape of the squad, one more player would give us a good balance.”

If Pogba does arrive at Stamford Bridge, he will become the club’s highest paid player, eclipsing Eden Hazard‘s £250k-a-week deal.
