Paul Scholes has backed Ten Hag to continue his role as the club manager.

Club legend Paul Scholes has urged Sir Jim Ratcliffe to stick with the Dutch manager when he arrives at the club.

Ratcliffe who is a lifelong supporter of the Red Devils is currently close to securing a 25 per cent stake in the club.

The 71-year-old businessman is expected to bring in a new manager and former Chelsea boss Graham Potter has been touted as an option.

Scholes believes Ten Hag has put together a great team but it’s not good enough to challenge for the Premier League title.

He still claims that the Dutchman is still the right figure to lead the club going forward.

“I think it’s hard to say – I think he’s been a very good coach so far, I like him,” Scholes told TNT Sports.

“There’s still a lot of work to do, but he’s the right man, whether Jim is coming in to bring someone else in or not.”

“Has he put a team together that is good enough to challenge for the Premier League? No, but it looked like a good start towards the end of last season.
