Teenage sensation Phil Foden has extended his stay with Manchester City by another five and a half years.

The 18 year old has put pen to paper to a new contract which will keep him at the club until 2024. Foden first hogged the limelight with his impressive performance in the U17 World Cup as he single handedly led the Three Lions to the final glory.

The midfielder has been a first team regular under Pep Guardiola this season and has continued his resurgence despite his limited game time. It had been feared the teenager would follow the footsteps of Jadon Sancho who preferred to join Borussia Dortmund in search for more first team minutes but the youngster decided to stay and fight for his place in the team.

Foden said, “I’m over the moon. I’ve been here since day one. I’ve grown up and seen a lot of new faces and people.

“It’s a dream come true to sign a new contract.”

Football director Txiki Begiristain said, “We are delighted to have secured Phil for the next five and a half years.

“He is an outstanding talent and he is Manchester City born and bred so this is where he wants to play his football.

“Under Pep and with the players we have here around him, he is in the best place possible to develop as a player.”
