Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang dreams of Madrid

Gabon international reveals his childhood dream

Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed his childhood footballing dream – to play for Real Madrid.

If this is still his ultimate dream, the news will come as a massive blow to Premier League trio Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, all whom are interested in signing him.

Aubameyang has been linked with moves to the Premier League, with some claiming United are prepared to offer around £60million, with the other two only prepared to go as high as £40m.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool were keen on the Gabon striker during the January window, but he confirmed himself that he wasn’t ready to leave Dortmund.

Speaking about his career and his footballing dreams, Aubameyang admitted that the club he dreamed about the most was Real Madrid.

Childhood Dreams

“My childhood dream was to play for Real Madrid,” he told L’Equipe.

“I promised my grandfather, who was from Avila some 110 kilometers away from Madrid, that I would play there. I realize that it will not be easy, but is always in the back of my mind.

“I watched a lot of Hugo Sanchez videos when I was still a child. The somersault I sometimes do to celebrate a goal is a homage to him.

“Playing for Real Madrid, or even another big Spanish club, would also be a great gift for my mother.”
