Euro 2016 finally gets underway tonight

The hosts of this summer’s European Championships France get the tournament underway tonight as they host Romania at the Stade de France, kick-off 8pm (BST).

The French players will want to make a statement in front of their home fans by comprehensively beating Romania, who will make the game as difficult as possible for Didier Deschamps’ men.

France have won the Euros twice before in back in 1984 and 2000, whereas Romania’s best performance in this competition was also in 2000 when they reached the quarter-final stage.

The other Group A fixture between Albania and Switzerland kicks-off at 2pm (BST) tomorrow (Saturday 11th June).
