The game will have extra security and policing

After the Old Trafford bomb scare on Sunday, the rescheduled Manchester United vs Bournemouth fixture will be played tonight.

The 20:00pm kick-off will signify the beginning of the final Premier League game of the 2015/16 season, yet the match itself has little importance.

United can leapfrog their local rivals Manchester City into the final Champions League spot with an unlikely goalscoring miracle, so it’s a formality that they will be playing Europa League football next campaign.

As for Bournemouth, their objective at the beginning of the season was to avoid relegation, which they have done successfully after splashing a bit of cash.

A famous win for Eddie Howe’s Cherries against the Red Devils tonight could see them leapfrog Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion to finish as high as 14th place.

What problems has the postponement caused?

Apart from the fact they are playing midweek rather than on a weekend, money is a big issue affected by the rearrangement of this fixture.

The major one is that extra security and policing tonight means more expenditure on wages for those employing the workers.

In terms of the footballing side, Manchester United confirmed that all types of ticket holders would be refunded and entry to tonight’s game would be free.

On the other hand, Bournemouth have offered their fans free coach travel up to the North-West tonight.

Last time out

Bournemouth famously won the reverse fixture 2-1 at Dean Court back on 12th December 2015.

Junior Stanislas gave the Cherries the lead in the early minutes of the encounter after he scored directly from the corner, but Marouane Fellaini was on hand to equalise for Louis van Gaal’s men approximately 20 minutes later.

However, Howe’s newly promoted side would go on to take all three points when ex-United winger Josh King lashed home to winner against his former explorers in the second half.
