North London derby in Capital One Cup Third Round

Tottenham Hotspur host local-rivals Arsenal tonight in the third round of the Capital One Cup, with just the one point currently separating them in the Premier League.

Spurs go into the game off the back of a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, making it back-to-back 1-0 victories for Mauricio Pochettino‘s men, while Arsenal go into the London derby following their 2-0 loss to Chelsea on Saturday.

Having both played six games in the league, Spurs sit on nine points, with Arsene Wenger‘s men a point ahead on 10.

Team News

Both sides are expected to make wholesale changes for tonight’s game.

For Spurs, Ryan Mason, Mousa Dembele and Nabil Bentaleb are all officially out of the game, with Harry Kane likely to keep his place up front as he continues to look for his first club goal of the season.

For the visitors, they will be without enforcer Francis Coquelin after he sustained a knee injury against Chelsea on Saturday.

However, they will have Gabriel Paulista available after the FA lifted his three-match ban after Arsenal appealed Mike Dean‘s decision to send him off over the weekend.

Per Mertesacker is also available for the Gunners following a few weeks out due to illness.

Last Season’s Matches

The North London duo went head-to-head twice last season, with Tottenham coming out on top with four points to Arsenal’s one.

There was a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium in the league before the Lilywhites won 2-1 at White Hart Lane thanks to a Kane brace.
