Napoli manager Rafa Benitez is in the frame to become the next permanent Newcastle United manager, according to reports from Italy.
Mike Ashley is determined to bring in a high quality manager with a proven track record, and Benitez certainly fits that.
The Spaniard has enjoyed success in England, winning the 2005 Champions League and the FA Cup with Liverpool, plus the Europa League with Chelsea.
Two weeks ago, Newcastle announced that caretaker boss John Carver would remain in the hot seat until the end of the season.
Benitez has been linked with a move back to Liverpool, and would surely only consider taking over at Newcastle, if he had full control over signings made.
