Rafa return if Liverpool pay £30 million for Gonzalo Higuain

Rafa Benitez has said he would only consider a return to Liverpool, if the club made a £30 million move for striker Gonzalo Higuain.

The Spaniard, who managed Liverpool’s Champions League triumph in 2005, is linked with a move back to England, where his family still live.

The 54 year old has revealed that Higuain would have to be part of any potential deal, to lure him back to Merseyside.

Higuain, formerly of Real Madrid has a £30 million release clause that Liverpool would have to match, to have a chance of bringing him in.

Liverpool are crying out for a top striker, having sold Luis Suarez to Barcelona in the summer, and with Daniel Sturridge continually injured.

The team’s back up strikers: Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini have managed a pitiful two league goals between them, with Raheem Sterling currently playing up front.

Reports from Spain claim the Reds want Benitez to take over from Brendan Rodgers come the end of the season, but no official line has been made.
