De Telegraaf states that Real Madrid and Ajax have come to an agreement for Danny van de Beek.
The Dutch outfit has accepted Real’s €55m bid, sending the midfielder to the Bernabeu next summer. Van De Beek opted to remain at the Johan Cryuff ArenA for one more season post the departures of Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong.
He also turned down both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur last summer, giving his word to only Los Blancos. The 22-year-old’s arrival will mark the beginning of the new Madrid side under Zinedine Zidane. That means Luka Modric, Tony Kroos and Isco could potentially leave Real after this season or even this month.
Van De Beek is the perfect box-to-box option to play next to Casemiro in midfield. If Zidane were to recall Martin Odegaard from loan, that would complete his central lineup. Achraf Hakimi could also be kept on at right-back after impressing on loan with Borussia Dortmund. However, Van De Beek’s arrival does beg the question – is Paul Pogba still a transfer target for Zidane?
The Galacticos boss has been adamant on bringing Pogba to the Madrid capital. The latter himself is ready to leave Manchester United and has been strongly linked to Real. Granted his transfer would cost a ridiculous fee but there is no doubt over Real’s financial powers.
