According to reports, Real Madrid are considering making an offer for Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas. The former Liverpool player is being touted as one of the most intelligent players world football has seen. Aspas is mainly known for his awful stint with Liverpool where he failed to find the net for a single time in his brief career on the English soil.
But following his return to his native country Aspas has proved his critics wrong as he went on to register 67 goals for Celta Vigo in 127 games. The Spanish international had a brilliant last season as he netted 22 goals for the Spanish club and became the highest scorer Spanish footballer in La Liga.
Aspas’ goalscoring form hasn’t gone unnoticed and Madrid are hoping to have an agreement in place for the 31 year old. He reportedly has a €40 million release clause in his contract and Madrid would be happy to pay that amount for a player who can definitely guarantee a handful of goals for the Spanish giants.
Karim Benzema is pretty inconsistent and Aspas could play a vital role as he can be deployed anywhere across the front three. Madrid already brought in Vinicius Junior to strengthen their attack and should they able to rope in Aspas they can pose a significant threat to Barcelona’s title challenge.
