Reports coming out of Spain claims Real Madrid are ready to offer James Rodriguez in an effort to lower Tottenham Hotspur’s asking price for Christian Eriksen.

Florentino Perez has set his sights on two Premier League players for next summer – Eriksen and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard. Both are in a contract which is set to run out in another 18 months.

Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy is aware of the Galacticos’ interests towards his star midfielder but has so far been unsuccessful in tying the player down with a contract extension.

Eriksen has developed in a prime creative midfielder in the Premier League and is not against the possibilities of moving to the Spanish capital. The 26-year-old’s is one of the leading assist makers but also a crucial part of the Tottenham lineup.

He along with Delle Ali, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son constitutes the ‘Fab Four’ on the offensive end. Mauricio Pochettino has utilised Eriksen’s playmaking abilities to drive the team towards Champions League football.

Losing him would be a massive hit for the North London outfit but the blow could be significantly reduced if they receive James Rodriguez in return. The Colombian international and former World Cup Golden Boot winner is currently on a two-year loan spell with Bayern Munich.

He operates from the same position as Eriksen and has a similar type of skill set.
