Real Madrid man Dani Carvajal believes they are closer to winning La Liga title following their victory against Getafe.
The full back played a key role in Madrid’s win when he won the penalty which led to the only goal of the game.
The Los Blancos have a four-point lead over second place Barcelona with just five games left for the season.
The Los Blancos have not won the title since 2016-17 and Dani Carvajal believes that his side can lift the La Liga title after the club secured their sixth consecutive victory since the restart.
Sergio Ramos scored a 79th minute penalty and helped the team win their sixth consecutive game and get closer to their 34th La Liga title.
“It is clear that with four points [advantage] we depend on ourselves to win this league. We are on course,” Carvajal, who earned Madrid’s penalty after he was upended by Getafe’s Mathias Olivera, said post-match.
“Getafe played a very well-rounded game. We had to take advantage of Barcelona’s slip, today was a final.
“Getafe made it tough. We had to be serious, showing that we are a unit.
“I was able to complete a one-on-one and win the penalty.
“On Sunday we have a very tough battle.”
Real Madrid will be visiting Athletic Bilbao for their away game on Sunday.
