European giants Real Madrid have been hunting for a new goalkeeper for quite some time. Despite their former coach Zinedine Zidane holding Keylor Navas in high regard, president Florentino Perez prefers a change. So, Los Blancos are currently in pursuit of Belgium custodian Thibaut Courtouis.

They were previously in the hunt for Roma and Brazilian goalie Alisson. However, Roma’s asking price was too high for them so they decided to go after Courtouis at a lower price.

Real Madrid have reportedly submitted a bid of £41.5 million. There have been several reports that Courtouis will not extend his contract at Chelsea and would be leaving the club at the end of the season .

Courtouis has been a regular at Stamford Bridge for three seasons and helped them win two Premier League titles in  the2014-15 and the 2016-17 seasons. He also won the golden glove in the 2016-17 season.

Courtouis has spent three years at Madrid while plying his trade at Real’s rivals Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid are keen to make Courtouis their second signing of the summer after signing right-back Alvaro Odriozola from Real Sociedad.

Courtouis is currently with the Belgium team at the World Cup. He made some terrific saves from Brazil last night as Belgium beat them 2-1 to qualify for the semi-finals. This is Belgium’s first semi-final appearance at the World Cup since 1986. Belgium will now take on France at Saint Petersburg on Tuesday.
