The Chilean could be heading back to Spain this summer

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal winger Alexis Sanchez this summer, with James Rodriguez and Isco reportedly set to leave.

It is a shock move that might upset Barcelona fans, who saw the talented Chile international leave the club in 2014 for Arsenal, following three years at the Camp Nou.

Real are understand to be keeping an eye on Sanchez, as the club look to put together a convincing title challenge next season, as they currently sit 12 points short of bitter rivals, Barca.

However, Sanchez is under contract at the Emirates until 2018, so it would take an incredible fee to tempt the Gunners to sell their star asset.

The 27-year-old has been outstanding for Arsene Wenger’s side since his arrival, and with 11 goals this season, Arsenal are hoping to tie him, and Mesut Ozil, down to new contracts, with talks set to go ahead in May.

But the Chilean is set to demand ÂŁ160,000-a-week and seek assurances about the direction in which the club is going – as they look set to miss out both Champions League and Premier League honours this campaign.

Great Understanding

Meanwhile, Barcelona right-back Dani Alves believes the reason why Sanchez didn’t make the grade at the Camp Nou was because he needed a greater understanding of the way the Catalans play.

“Alexis didn’t fail at Barcelona but it’s hard to play here because you have to understand the playing idea,” Alves told the Daily Mail.

“He’s a great player and I always knew that he would be a success when he left, especially if he went somewhere he would be the protagonist. He’s the kind of player who needs that.

“You need to have a great understanding of the way Barcelona play and, if you do, then you will have a long career here.”
