There are have been many rumours which have suggested thta QPR boss Harry Redknapp’s future with the club is in doubt, so Fernandes has put an end to these claims by revealing the manager is in contract talks with the club.

The Rs were shown the harsh reality of the Premier League and were humbled 4-0 by Tottenham at the weekend, having also lost their opening game of the season, there was talk that the experienced boss may be on his way out.

However club owner Tony Fernandes is still convinced that Redknapp is the right man for the job and hopes to agree a new deal before the end of the week, as his current deal expires at the end of the season.

Fernandes told Sky Sports News“Me and Harry have been in discussions. It’s something I’ve always wanted – stability. There was always an intention to renew Harry’s [contract].”

The Loftus Road owner also spoke about rhe club’s ambition to secure the signing of Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy before the transfer window closes next Monday.

He added: “Not something I’ve been working on, but we are interested in him, but at the right price and if it doesn’t work out then it doesn’t work out.”

QPR have the opportunity to turn their fortunes around as they face Sunderland in their next Premier League fixture.
