Leicester City just pulled off a brilliant 2-1 upset over Premier League champions, Manchester City on Boxing Day. The win came right after the Foxes’ 0-1 victory over Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge

Ricardo Pereira scored the winner from the edge of the penalty box, blasting the ball into the far corner right upon receiving it from a cleared header. The Portuguese full-back was delighted to receive praise and said, “When I received the ball, I had to shoot or else there would be a counter-attack and fortunately it was a good goal.”

“Like I said before, I like to help the team attacking, first defending, but when I have the chance, I give the support up front. We know we have a lot of quality and believe in ourselves to the end because we know they are a difficult team, but if we play well together we can score goals in any game.”

Leicester collected maximum points from two fixtures they had no business winning to climb up to the 7th spot of the league standings. The 2015/16 Premier League champions started off the season marked with inconsistencies but lately have picked themselves up.

Pereira further added, “It was not bad I think! Two wins over Christmas time is very good, but we have to think about the next game and continue like this.”

“We enjoyed it together. It’s good to see, people are with us, that’s because we play for them, they support us, it’s very important, this atmosphere [at King Power Stadium]. It’s very important for us to get the confidence, but we have to keep our feet on the ground because in three days we have to keep going like this.”

Leicester are due to face Cardiff City for their last game of 2018.
