Roberto Mancini has taken over the reins at Milan for a second time and it is thought he has transfer targets firmly in his sights.

Roberto Mancini is reportedly going to make Steven Gerrard an offer to move to the Italian giants in January but has dismissed the suggestion he could reunite with Gerrard’s team mate Mario Balotelli.

The liverpudlian skipper is out of contract at the end of the season and previous reports suggested a move to the MLS could have been on the cards, but it now seems a move to the Serie A could be the only thing to tempt Gerrard away from his beloved club.

When asked about the possibility of a reunion with Mario he said: “I think that Mario [Balotelli] is going to stay at Liverpool. It is a great opportunity for him.

“He has to do his best there. He has been lucky to get back into England playing for a big club.

“He has to take this chance.”

Mancini and Balotelli had a rocky relationship during Manini’s tenure at Manchester City and after a training ground bust-up in January 2013 Balotelli left England for Italy.
