Roberto Martinez insists that Everton haven’t signed Romelu Lukaku

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has dismissed reports that Everton have signed Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

According to reports the Toffess had agreed a deal with the Belgian to bering him to Goodison Park, after he spent a successful season on loan there last year. The striker scored 16 goals in 31 appearences for the side, helping them to a 5th place finish.

The reports of a possible deal for Lukaku has excited many Everton fans, but Martinez has rubbished those claims and insisted that they have not agreed a deal for the Belgian striker. 

He said: “There have been a lot of reports, some even saying I’ve told people it [a deal for Lukaku] is done, but the situation is very clear.

“We need a number nine going into the start of the season and we will make sure we sign one.

“Rom created incredible memories we’ll never forget and enjoyed his time at Everton – but that doesn’t mean anything between now and the end of the window.

“Everything is in the air and you can imagine there are options on the table. We will carry on working hard to assemble the strongest squad possible.”
