The Sunday Mirror claims that the Dutchman is ready to quit after becoming disillusioned with life at Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old is entitled to a £10m bonus if he sees out the final two years of his contract with United. But he will waive that payment in order to make a fresh start elsewhere, the reports suggest.

RVP has been linked with a return to Arsenal in recent weeks and is also thought to be a transfer target for Italian giants Juventus. Even Chelsea have been mentioned in relation to a possible bid in recent days.

Sources close to the player suggest that, despite United’s public assurances that he is not for sale, he will be sold if they can recoup a decent share of the £24m that Van Persie cost when he joined from Arsenal in 2012.

Juve will also have to stretch the salary on offer to somewhere in the region of Van Persie’s current £250,000-a-week wages.

Van Persie launched outspoken criticism of United’s tactics under Moyes following last month’s Champions League defeat at Olympiakos.
