Manchester United manager David Moyes has confirmed that star-striker Robin Van Persie will miss the whole of the festive period due to a thigh strain.
The Dutch striker picked up the knock during the side’s 1-0 victory against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday night and in his press conference today, Moyes confirmed the extent of the injury.
The news will come as a massive blow to Moyes and United as they look to try and close a 13 point gap between themselves and Arsenal, but without Van Persie for a month, it could be a hard task.
Moyes says: “Robin Van Persie is out as well for a month. He picked up a thigh strain in taking a corner kick which led to the goal.”
“It’s unfortunate because I think if you look at our record with Wayne Rooney and Robin in the team, it is actually very good and we have not had them for quite a period recently.”
