Rodriguez could leave Real Madrid next summer

Real Madrid winger James Rodriguez is prepared for a summer switch to Chelsea, after falling out of favour under boss Rafael Benitez.

The Colombia international impressed in his first season in the Spanish capital, scoring 13 and assisting 13 in 29 La Liga appearances. However, new boss Benitez has used the 24-year-old’s services just eight times this season.

It is understood that Rodriguez is ready to quit Real Madrid and move to west London where his agent, Jorge Mendes, is also linked with Blues boss Jose Mourinho, with the links making a move more likely.

Colombian has Blues preference

Rodrigues is understood to prefer a move to Chelsea, with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain also interested in the star who was the surprise star at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale’s presence in the Real starting line up has hindered Rodriguez’s opportunities, while he would provide useful back up to out-of-form Chelsea man Eden Hazard.
