Manchester United striker reveals he NEVER handed in a formal transfer request
Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has revealed he never handed in a formal transfer request at the club despite falling out with Sir Alex Ferguson.
It was well documented in the media that the England international was growing unhappy and frustrated with life at Old Trafford, but in a recent interview, he has claimed he never officially asked to leave.
It was back in 2010 when Rooney was getting axed from the United first-team, and he went in to discuss his status at the club with Ferguson before stating it might be best for him to leave.
However, unlike what the media reported, he never officially asked to leave or never officially handed in a transfer request.
Later that year the 29-year-old ended all speculation surrounding his future by penning a new deal at the club, ending speculation of a shock move to Arsenal or Chelsea.
Speaking in a BBC documentary, Rooney revealed all about that time at United.
Rooney Reveals All
“I don’t know what happened, why it panned out that way, Ferguson was the reason why I wanted to join Manchester United, to work with him.
“In my eyes he is the best manager of all time.”
