Southampton defender, Ryan Bertrand, has paid tribute to his former-club, Chelsea, and has thanked them for the memories.

The left-back completed his permanent move to The Saints on Transfer Deadline Day after spending the season their on loan, and after impressing in the first-half of the campaign, Ronald Koeman made the decision to make it a permanent move.

The Englishman struggled to break into Chelsea’s first-team mainly due to Ashley Cole cementing the spot for the majority of the time he was there, but after Cole left, Bertrand was still overlooked and was then sent out on loan after Southampton lost Luke Shaw.

Southampton paid ÂŁ10million in order to secure Bertrand permanently and he has now paid tribute to his former-club after many years in West London.

“Thank you to all of the @ChelseaFC family for the past 10 years,” Bertrand tweeted.

“Fans supported me from day one I thank you all and will never forget it.

“Proud to be part of such a great club with the chance to build something special. The hard work starts now for me lets goooo! @SouthamptonFC”

Bertrand was famously part of the Champions League winners side against Bayern Munich back in 2012.
