Gareth Bale’s Real Madrid tag invites all the pressure for him, according to Wales manager Ryan Giggs.
Bale is likely to lead the line when Wales face Slovakia in a European qualifier on Sunday. The former Tottenham Hotspur forward watched from the stands as his country defeated Trinidad & Tobago with the help of Ben Woodburn.
The Madrid forward has been under severe criticism as he hasn’t been able to justify his bag paycheck in the Spanish capital. The arrival of Zinedine Zidane has further intensified speculations regarding his exit form the club but it was the French manager who handed the Welsh man his first ninety minutes in the last few months.
Bale’s constant linkup with other clubs seems to have affected his on field form. Also, the player is yet to adjust with the Spanish cultures but Giggs feel the pressure of being at a club like Madrid is affecting him. “I recognise we have got an amazing player, one of the world’s best players, in the team.
“But also, if he’s not there, it’s taking a little bit of the pressure off with the talented players around him, especially in the forward areas.”
