Historic Start: Gravenberch’s Impact Echoes Liverpool Legends of the Past

Ryan Gravenberch, Liverpool’s newest midfield prodigy, has lit up Anfield with his brilliant shows, marking a stunning start to his first season on Merseyside. The 21-year-old, who joined the club from Bayern Munich in the summer for a fee of ÂŁ38.5 million, netted his first goal for the club in Thursday night’s 2-0 win over Union SG.

Gravenberch exhibited his playmaking ability in his first two starts against LASK and Leicester, providing two key assists, a feat not completed at Liverpool since Jordon Ibe over a decade ago. Gravenberch went one step further, becoming the first Liverpool player in 21 years to score in each of his first three starts, a record previously held by Milan Baros in the 2002/03 season. Baros set an impressive standard in his first three games, scoring four goals, including an impressive opening-day brace against Bolton.

Gravenberch described his first experience at Anfield as “super good,” praising his quick adaptability to continuous playing time. After leaving Bayern Munich due to a lack of opportunities, the Dutchman has effortlessly transitioned into Jurgen Klopp’s midfield rotation, playing an integral part in both the Europa League and League Cup competitions.

Gravenberch’s offensive efforts have not gone unnoticed despite his lack of appearances in the Premier League, enticing him to the Liverpool crowd. Klopp praised Gravenberch’s obvious potential and improvement, adding that Gravenberch is on the right track with his fantastic start.

Gravenberch has clearly driven his claim to a starter spot at the Amex Stadium, with Brighton being the next obstacle on the horizon. Gravenberch, who captured the attention of the premier league’s clubs during his time at Ajax, hopes to reignite his career at Anfield in the middle of tough competition following Liverpool’s midfield remodeling in the summer.
