Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has thanked new manager Manuel Pellegrini and has claimed that he has saved his career at the Etihad Stadium.

The French international fell down the pecking order when Roberto Mancini was in charge and the two had several war-of-words throughout last season which meant the midfield-man was left out of most match-day squads.

However, since the arrival of Pellegrini, Nasri has been pack in the first-team picture and back performing like he was during his Arsenal days.

In a recent interview, Nasri revealed that he believes he gets on so well with Pellegrini because he is very similar to Arsene Wenger, the man who brought Nasri to England.

“He does remind me of Arsene in respect of the way he works,” said Nasri.

“He has the same approach in the way he talks to players and tells them when things are good and when they are bad.

“But it’s always constructive and you always know what he wants form you, and what you to bring to the team.

“I feel that he trusts me and that he gives me responsibilities on the pitch. When you have a manager like that, you want to repay that sort of faith – and that’s what I’m trying to do.”
