Arsenal midfielder wants club to act on attacking department

Arsenal play-maker Santi Cazorla has urged the club to sign a new striker this Summer, in order to help out Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck.

The Spaniard was talking at the club’s official kit launch last night, and he believes a striker is a must-buy over the Summer in case injuries take over yet again.

Injury Issues

Giroud broke his leg and was out for three months earlier on in the campaign, whilst Welbeck missed large parts near the end of the season, leaving the club relying on just one striker for the majority of the year.

As well as Giroud and Welbeck both having injury-hit seasons, potential striker Theo Walcott also struggled to retain full-fitness after recovering from a 12-month injury lay-off.

Speaking at the kit launch, Cazorla admitted that a striker is a must-buy for The Gunners just in case they have similar injury issues next season.

Striker is Needed

The Spaniard said: “Yes of course, because Danny had an injury.

“We had only Giroud up front. It’s better if we sign a new striker for the team and for the club.

“We want to be more regular. Last season we lost so many points against small teams at home – Hull City for example – and if we want to win the league we can’t lose those points.”

Potential Targets

Arsenal have been strongly linked with FC Porto‘s Jackson Martinez and Napoli‘s Gonzalo Higuain in recent weeks.

Throughout the 2014/2015 campaign, the trio of Welbeck, Giroud and Walcott netted 34 goals.
