Sergio Aguero will miss Manchester derby

Sergio Aguero predicts that he will be out for a month after picking up an injury in Argentina’s 2-0 loss at home to Ecuador on Thursday

Aguero, 27, was stretchered off during Argentina’s surprise 2-0 defeat to Ecuador on Thursday evening.

The Manchester City striker visited a clinic in Buenos Aires on Friday afternoon where it was confirmed that he has suffered a hamstring tear.

The City striker has confirmed that he will miss the Manchester derby later this month.

Speaking outside the clinic Aguero revealed that the injury is set to keep him on the sidelines for four weeks.

“I think I’ll be a month without playing,” he said on Friday.

“I’ll go the AFA (Argentine Football Association) national team compound to carry on with treatment. To recover from the tear I’ll surely need a month although it will depend how it evolves,” he told TyC Sports.

“I’d been playing very frequently and was in doubt (for Thursday’s match) until the last minute but as player you always want to be there and never know what can happen,” Aguero added.

His absence is a blow to City boss Manuel Pellegrini, who must now face a table-topping derby clash with United at Old Trafford, as well as crucial back-to-back Champions League matches with Sevilla.
