Louis van Gaal tells Man Utd to sign star forward

Louis van Gaal has told the Old Trafford board to get a deal going for Southampton forward Sadio Mane in January.

Van Gaal was very impressed with the Senegal international’s sensational display in Southampton’s 3-1 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

And Spanish publication Fichajes now claims he “insisted” that a deal should be tied up to sign him as soon as possible.

However, Saints boss Ronald Koeman has so far sown no interest in United’s attempts to lure one of his star players away from St Mary’s.

United made a bid in the region £25million in the summer transfer window but Koeman stood firm in not allowing it to happen.

However, Koeman’s stance has changed slightly of late and he has seemingly come around to the idea that he may be lose the 23-year-old in the future.

“Maybe one day we will lose Mane but then we have to be prepared,”

“You know in our situation that kind of player, if they play like today, there will come a lot of interest in the end of the season, but now we enjoy watching Mane in our team.”

Mane moved to the south coast from Red Bull Salzburg for a fee of around ÂŁ12m at the start of last season.

In 43 appearances for the club he has scored 14 goals.
