Xherdan Shaqiri has let it be known that Liverpool were indeed ready to bring the player to Anfield over the summer.
Liverpool were linked with the Swiss international throughout the World Cup, and it has been revealed that the club had made attempts to bring the winger to England.
A move failed to advance as Bayern Munich rejected all offers for Shaqiri, with the player himself admitting that he could leave in the near future.
‘Liverpool made a bid for me before the World Cup but Bayern put their foot down and told me, ‘We’re not going to sell you’,’ he said.
‘My contract runs until 2016 and I could possibly extend it.
‘I will consider my decision during the winter break.’
