Santiago Solari has lavished praise on Karim Benzema after his brace against Girona.
The Real Madrid manager has also hit out at those who have not recognised the player’s contribution in the team’s success.
Real Madrid manager Santiago Solari has said that he is sorry for those who have understood the contribution of striker Karim Benzema in the side’s success in the past week only. The Frenchman scored a brace against Girona in their 3-1 win in the Cope Del Rey quarterfinal second leg match. The player had also notched up one goal in the first leg as well, which the Galacticos had won by 4-2. The player has now scored five goals in the last three matches in all competitions for the reigning European champions.
Speaking to the media after the match, the Argentine gaffer said, “I’m sorry for those who have discovered Benzema last week. But hey, they still have time to enjoy him, he is in a great moment, it’s true.”
The manager also spoke about the late introduction of Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio in the match as the duo came off the bench. He said, “The players who come out of injury have to find their rhythm. But now we are all recovered and the truth is that I wish there were more changes [substitutions] in football, not just three, because I want to see everyone.”
Solari added, “Now we start mixing the competitions, but it’s normal if we want to aspire to everything, which is why it’s important to have all the players. We are going to give the fight on all fronts and the players know it more than me, because it is the registered trademark of the club.”
