Real Madrid To Replace Karim Benzema With Bundesliga Starlet

Real Madrid have set their sights on Eintracht Frankfurt striker, Luka Jovic to serve as a long-term successor of Karim Benzema.

The 21-year-old forward has been in sublime form this season, scoring 18 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions.

He is currently on a two-season loan spell with the Bundesliga outfit which is due to end next June. Frankfurt understandably will exercise their right to purchase the player for €8m next summer before selling him off for a healthy profit to a European powerhouse such as Real Madrid.

Jovic originally started out with Red Star Belgrade before signing for Benfica in February 2016. After scoring 4 goals in 18 appearances for the Primera Liga outfit, he departed for Frankfurt 18 months later and started to finally hit his stride as a senior professional.

Real Madrid have faced their fair bit of scoring troubles this season after Cristiano Ronaldo’s dramatic exit for Juventus. They have not replaced the scoring machine with any marquee player yet which has seen them drop significantly lower in the La Liga standings.

Benzema, who is in his 30s now has managed 15 goals in 33 appearances this term but is still nowhere near the offensive contribution that the Portuguese made previously at the Bernabeu.

Florentino Perez is clearly looking to start from the base, having already signed youngsters like Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo.

Adding Jovic certainly lays out a clear picture of the Galacticos’ recruitment process in turning the club back into one of the most formidable sides in all of Europe. Right now they only look like the shadow of the side that won the UEFA Champions League 3 seasons in a row.
