Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti rules out move for Anfield star

‘Sterling is not in our plans’. Those were the words from Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti, talking to the Sun on Sunday this week.

Those six words will come as some relief to the Anfield faithful, following weeks of conjecture regarding the 19-year-old’s future. In order for Liverpool to move forward they will need to hold on to stars like Sterling, and this will come as some comfort to the club following an inconsistent start to their campaign this season.

Recent reports had suggested that Real were planning a prestigious bid to lure the England international to the Bernabeu after his stunning season last year.

Ancelotti has stated that Sterling would struggle to fit into his side, due to the wealth of talent already at the club.

He said: ‘Sterling is a player of great quality, certainly one of the best in Europe.

‘But we already have extraordinary talent here.

‘To think of another striker for the Real Madrid attack is really extremely difficult.

‘It’s clear that Sterling is not in our plans.’

It is understandable that Real may not be intrerested right now. But what happens if Manchester United manage to attract Christiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, remains to be seen. Ronaldo will need replacing at that point, and the little winger may well be the man to fill his star-studded boots.

Originally from Jamaica, and a former Queens Park Rangers youth player, Sterling has the world at his feet, and the money men from Merseyside may need to offer an unrivalled contract for a 19-year-old in order to keep him at Anfield for the long-term.
