Andre Villas-Boas has promised to continue spending at Tottenham to reinforce and improve; Spurs are on the verge of signing Brazilian Willian of Anzhi Makhachkala for £30 million and Argentine Eric Lamela of A.S Roma for a similar fee. Alongside these two singings AVB is planning a bid for Real Madrid left back Fabio Coentrao who has recently expressed his disappointment at lack of football at the Bernabeu.
Gareth Bale’s move to Real Madrid is still up in the air, however this heavy expenditure from Tottenham infers Bale’s transfer money is already being spent. Fabio Coentrao of course could be involved in a deal to bring Bale to Madrid.
AVB has stated ‘Coentrao and Lamela, both great players but that’s all I can say, we are moving forward, adding tremendous talent so we can be very strong. The market isn’t finished for us we will do business both ways. We will be stronger than the year before.’
The recent signings of Paulinho, Chadli, Capoue and most notably Roberto Soldado shows great intent from the North London outfit. There expenditure is putting growing tension on their North London rivals, Arsenal, who are yet to make a notable marquee signing.
