Sterling to sign new contract

Raheem Sterling, who signed for Liverpool from QPR back in 2010, has entered talks with Liverpool over a new long term contract.

The contract will see Sterling have a ÂŁ55 million release clause which Premier League clubs will not be able to activate.

This has come after reports of the Premier League’s elite clubs such as Manchester City and Chelsea were said to be interested in Sterling.

In 2013, owner John W Henry was desperate not to sell Luis Suarez to rivals Arsenal. He was then sold to Barcelona a year later.

Sterling has also been linked with the European champions Real Madrid.
