Steve Bruce thinks that this is the best Tottenham side he has ever seen and that they have the potential to win the league. It has been 52 years since they won the league and the Hull City manager reckons that Spurs can put an end to this long wait.
Steve Bruce said: “This is the strongest Spurs side I can remember in all my time in football both as player and manager”.
“And I am sure they have the talent to win the Premier League this time around. For them, though, it is all a matter of mentality and attitude”.
“It is a question of have they have got the mental strength to go and win it more than have they got the ability to finish at the top of the pile?”.
“They were knocking on the door when Harry Redknapp was manager there and now, when I look around, they have as strong a squad as anybody in the top flight”.
“They are now a very accomplished side – and, of course, they currently have the country’s outstanding individual player in Andros Townsend”.
“The ironic thing is that they have lost Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, but are arguably a better and stronger team without him”.
“They are a really top side now and Andre has bought marvellously well”.
“So for me, it all depends on whether what they have got between their ears matches the talent they have in their feet”.
Despite all this the Hull City doesn’t feel intimidated by the london club.
Steve Bruce said: “We have proved already since coming up from the Championship that we have got the spirit, attitude and ability to handle playing in the Premier League”.
“We have to put up a decent show so far, and it is important that we maintain those standards”.
“The challenge we are facing at Tottenham doesn’t daunt us – it is one that we are looking forward to”.
