Steven Gerrard hopeful of quicker return

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is hopeful that he can recover from his hamstring injury in four weeks, rather than the six that was first suggested.

The Reds midfielder limped off in the second-half against West Ham United and after having scans and check-ups by the club’s medical team, it was revealed that he had done damage to his hamstring.

The first diagnosis was that he would miss at least six weeks, but the player himself is hopeful that he can return to action in just four weeks.

This will still mean that the captain will miss crunch games with Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur over the Christmas period and it could deal the club a massive blow in their top-four hunt.
