Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has revealed that the spirit within the camp is very high for the first-time in years and that is because all the players are friends off the pitch, as well as on it.
The Gunners have had a superb start to the 2013/2013 campaign, losing just four games in all competitions, with only two of those defeats coming in the league.
They currently sit top of the Premier League by two points and are also top of their Champions League group which also includes Borussia Dortmund and Napoli.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Wilshere revealed the reasons behind the good-form and he has put it down to the team spirit within the camp.
“It [our team spirit] is massive,” he told Arsenal.com. “We’ve been out a few times. We didn’t do it for a couple of years but over the last six months we go out for team dinners and we meet up outside of football, which is good for the team.
“Sometimes you just want to get away from football, you want to sit down and talk about life, your family and things like that. We’ve been doing that this season and it’s really showing on the pitch.
“We’ve done really well this season and towards the end of last season; I think the team spirit plays a massive part in that.”
