Thiago Silva came to AC Milan under the tutelage of Carlo Ancelotti.
Silva was an young man then but has revealed the one advice Ancelotti gave him that really helped him all his career.
And before defeat at Goodison Park, Thiago Silva told RMC: “Carlo, he’s someone I really like, I’m really happy to have worked with him in Milan and in Paris.
“In Milan, I came from Brazil, from Fluminense, and during the first six months, I couldn’t play for Milan because there were too many non-Europeans.
“He gave me a piece of advice that I remember as if it were yesterday: ‘Thiago, learn the language first, and I will take you to all games, even away so you can watch Maldini’.”
Ancelotti has been in and around the circuit for a really long time. He has played for and coached the best team in Italy, Spain and England. So when Carlo takes a liking to a particular young player, that should have been enough hint about the potential of Thiago Silva.
The Brazilian is now an extremely decorated player with multiple trophies under his belt. He is a veteran in the game.
