Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that he was relieved at full-time after his side came from behind to beat struggling Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Spurs have been in the headlines a lot in recent weeks, but for all the wrong reasons as pressure on Villas-Boas grows, but they showed character last night after coming from behind to beat their London rivals.

After going 1-0 down in Rene Meulensteen’s first game in charge, it was looking bad for Boas once again, but goals from Vlad Chiriches and Lewis Holtby gave Spurs all three points and gave their manager a much-needed win.

Villas-Boas told Sky Sports: “We’ve been waiting a lot for this win.

“First it was important to conclude the job from the draw against Manchester United and now we have the win so it gives us the winning feeling finally and puts us back on track, and jumps us up a couple of positions in the table as well.

“And it’s another away win for us which is extremely important for our confidence.”

He added: “(The win) was very important. I think we were a bit unlucky to suffer that goal because it was probably our best moment of the game, where we looked more in control of the game.

“So we made that mistake and I think it was a bit unfair.

“But I think after the goal the game reflected what it was in the first half which was end-to-end stuff.”
