Tottenham failed in audacious bid for Andre Schurrle

Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur missed out on a deadline day move for Andre Schurrle after the winger opted to return to the Bundelsiga with Wolfsburg on Monday.

Spurs were in the market for a winger after they let Aaron Lennon go to Everton on loan, and Pochettino had made an enquiry for the German World Cup winner.

It seems as though Chelsea would’ve been willing to sell to Spurs and quoted the North London side a ÂŁ30 million fee for his services. Spurs were also mooted with an interest in Everton’s Kevin Mirallas who they could return for in the summer.

However it’s thought that Schurrle chose Wolfsburg so that he could head back to the Bundesliga, the league where he made his name in during a successful spell with Bayer Leverkusen before joining Chelsea.

Tottenham’s only in-coming deal yesterday saw highly-rated youngester Dele Alli join the club from Sky Bet League One side MK Dons, where he will remain on loan for the rest of the season.
