Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has revealed that everyone in the club is feeling positive after their impressive start to the new campaign.
After a very busy summer with ins and outs, Spurs were clearly making their intentions known by signing several top-class players and they haven’t been let down as they currently sit second in the Premier League, only behind Arsenal.
Talking after the side’s 4-0 victory at Villa Park in the Capital One Cup, the Belgium defender admitted that everyone in the camp is feeling good and positive about the season ahead.
“We have a lot of confidence. I think everybody can see we don’t concede a lot of goals.
“We score a lot of goals now and have a big squad. I think other teams are watching.”
Another test faces Andre Villas-Boas this weekend as his current-club take on his old-club Chelsea, and Vertonghen is eager to pick up yet another victory.
“We lost to a direct opponent the other week against Arsenal and we want to do better this time,” he said.
“Last year we lost at home [against Chelsea] because of quite a lot of injuries in my opinion. We want to do better this year.”
