Andros Townsend explains how Tottenham bagged a cheap deal for Yves Bissouma.

The 25-year-old midfielder has played a crucial role under the leadership of Graham Potter at Brighton and Hove Albion.

He has been one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League in the past two seasons.

The midfielder is Conte’s third signing of the summer who had only 12 months left to run on his Brighton contract.

Everton winger Andros Townsend hails Tottenham for their brilliant transfer masterstroke.

“Bissouma, you can’t fault that signing,” said Townsend. “He’s a top signing and a top player. £25 million, very cheap for the quality that he has.

“Again, I think he had one or two years left on his contract. But a top player. Breaking up the play. Recycling the ball. Playing forward and breaking the lines.

“He is just an animal. When you are trying to counter-attack, then you see Bissouma running towards you, that’s not a sight you want to see. Getting across and putting those tackles in.”
