Tottenham Hotspur pushing for title is good, says Chelsea legend Pat Nevin

Chelsea icon Pat Nevin says Tottenham Hotspur’s push for the Premier League title is positive for the league leaders.

The Blues are currently seven points clear at the top and are in great form, but have not been able to rest some of the players.

Tottenham are on a six-game winning streak and are chasing Chelsea’s tails, with it looking likely that Spurs will push for the title now until it is mathematically impossible.

“Nothing has been won and Spurs are trying their best to put as much pressure on as possible with their impressive current run,” Nevin wrote in his column for Chelseafc.com.

Nevin actually thinks Tottenham’s form can be seen as a good thing, as long as Chelsea go on to lift the trophy at the end of the season.

“If Chelsea do win the league, it will be that much sweeter if it hasn’t been easy, and that the tension is still around for a while longer.

“For some Chelsea fans it might also be quite sweet to see Spurs’ hopes being dashed, though personally I do not care which team is closest. For me, it is not about them, it is about us.”

Maurico Pochettino’s side welcome Bournemouth to White Hart Lane this weekend while Antonio Conte’s Chelsea side travel to Old Trafford as they face Manchester United.
