Tottenham Hotspur Told To Pay £60m For Ezri Konsa

Tottenham Hotspur have been told to shell out £60m for Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa.

Former Villan, Gabriel Agbonlahor told Football Insider: “Konsa, [Tyrone] Mings, [Matt] Targett, all of them have got aspirations of playing for England.

“If they keep playing how they’re playing, anything’s possible. I’ve heard that he’s a good lad, he’s very confident in his ability. Great signing from Dean Smith. Every signing’s been perfect.

“He came from Brentford, didn’t cost a huge amount of money and now he’s probably worth five times that amount.”

Villa only paid £12m for Konsa in the summer of 2019 before turning him into a prodigious talent. The defender has been key in reinstating Villa’s place as a top 10 Premier League team.

Tottenham are actively seeking capable defenders after some poor outings by Davinson Sanchez. Toby Alderweirald has a contract until June 2023 but he is 31 now and very susceptible to injuries. Eric Dier’s prospects have improved under Mourinho but Spurs could use an upgrade.

Konsa is still fairly young at 23 and gaining experience in the English top-flight. If he continues to progress well through the season, he could well be worth a considerable amount. Almost all English players cost higher on average across the European market than players from other countries.
