Tottenham should sign Danny Ings if Kane chooses to leave in the summer.
Spurs will likely miss the Champions League qualification spot and Harry Kane will definitely make a move away from the North London club.
Ings who was previously linked with Spurs is now a possible target for Manchester City to replace club legend Sergio Aguero in the summer.
Harry Kane will leave Tottenham in the summer and former Sunderland defender Michael Gray believes Ings would be an ideal signing for the North London club.
“You look at Tottenham, and the one thing everyone will agree with, is they want to sell big, but they don’t want to buy big,” Gray said, speaking on talkSPORT.
“They’ve always been that way. They’ll always want top dollar for the players who leave the club, their top stars, and rightly so, that’s what every club should look to do.
“But when they want to bring in somebody to replace them, they’ll go and get a bargain for £35million or £40million, it’s never a top dollar player.
“But if Harry Kane goes, why not go and get Danny Ings?
“He’s not Harry Kane, but you can buy Danny Ings, who is a proven goalscorer if the Premier League and a good signing, and probably still get another two or three players for the money they get.”
